Welcoming Another Ian to the Egnyte Team
Over the past few years, Egnyte has seen strong demand in the European market for our enterprise file services, due to the breadth of our offerings and the ability to securely store customer data in our European data center. To keep up the momentum and to accelerate our expansion into EMEA, I’m happy to announce that we have appointed Ian McEwan as vice president and general manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Ian brings more than two decades of expertise in bringing fast-growth technology firms to market in Europe. He will focus on building an industry-leading sales team, based out of Stockley Park, Heathrow, with a strong emphasis on enterprise customers and channel partners.
Prior to joining Egnyte, Ian was vice president of Sales for networking traffic visibility market leader Gigamon, where his team managed the company’s European operations through a successful IPO, with a valuation that was set at more than $600 Million. He previously served as a founding member of the Cloud Industry Forum, an industry body responsible for a Code of Practice for cloud services, and is a member of the UK Institute of Directors. He also brings deep experience in sales and pre sales from a range of industry leaders, including IBM, BMC, Frontrange Solutions, Peregrine (now HP) and Vignette.
While Ian and I share the same name, our choice of football teams couldn't be more different. On the one hand, Ian M. supports Fulham, who was recently relegated from the Premier League and hasn’t won any silverware since...well, ever actually. This compares to the glorious Red Devils (Manchester United) who, leaving aside the current temporary dip in form, has won everything there is to win many times over. Still, I will be happy to join Ian M. if he has a few spare tickets for Craven Cottage when United is next in town! I digress...
Please join me in welcoming Ian to the Egnyte family. Check back on the blog for more news from EMEA as Ian ramps up our business through the end of this year and 2015.
